Bulletin Boards

Helping decorate the kids' school library in preparation for an author visit with David Schwartz. Some of his books have parachutes in them, so we are using them as a theme. The baskets have covers of his books. His latest one sounds pretty fun, which covers the life cycle of a rotting pumpkin:

Each of the grades of the lower school have carved pumpkins that they are leaving out to rot as part of an experiment.

Working on bookplates to put in books that my kids' school will be giving out to the first graders to commemorate an upcoming author visit. I am leaning towards the one on the left.

Red Sketches

© Sylvia Liu
Hey! I'm back after a long summer of non productivity.

Yesterday I sketched these girls and colored it by finger on my Art Studio app while watching my daughter's softball practice. Just doodling for Tomie dePaola's annual 2016 SCBWI Illustration contest. The prompt is to illustrate an exempt provided by Tomie from Little Red Riding hood, with an emphasis on character development.

I'm also starting to think about the SCBWI Draw This! prompt (Enchantment) and the SVS's Third Thursday (illustrating a prompt they supply).
